NetServices is a company that is greatly concerned about our environment and knows how important it is to be green. So we brainstormed and asked ourselves, "What is the biggest thing we can do to help our environment?" Then we realize, the servers were the key.

Servers can be very energy-consuming. They stay on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A server serves up Web files that make up a Web site to Internet users whenever they request it. These machines stay all day and all night so it can be ready to serve up those files/pages at any moment's notice. So you can imagine, they can be energy consuming.

NetServices has chosen carbon neutral server companies for the company and clients' server/hosting needs.

Clean and renewable energy plants generate not only electricity, but also what are called Renewable Energy Credits (RECs). A REC represents the environmental benefits of producing 1,000 kWh of non-polluting energy from sources easily replenished by earth’s natural systems (such as wind or sun).

Because the generation of clean, renewable energy does not result in carbon emissions, the purchase and permanent retirement of RECs allows carbon emissions related to our server electricity use to be neutralized. (Instead of offsetting electricity related emissions, they're simply avoided by greening energy at the source.)
